Shirley was a pregnant stray down south that was taken in so she could have her babies safely in a shelter. Her babies were all adopted out, but poor Shirley kept getting overlooked and her "time was running out." A kind foster friend took her in to spare her life and they contacted NELR to see if she could find her happily ever after up here in New England. Shirley is an amazing pup, and we are so happy to help her! She gets along with everyone, rides well in the car, and has good recall and heeling, but needs a little guidance on the leash. She loves life and would be thrilled to have fun adventures with you! She also loves playtime and gets along with other easy-going, friendly dogs outside the home, but after not being welcomed by her last canine housemate, we think she'd appreciate being the only fur-baby in the house. She’s stayed on a farm with equines and has done excellent with them, but she likes to shoo birds out of the yard. Shirley loves water and pools and would delight in going swimming with you or making you laugh while splashing in a kiddie pool. She’s a happy girl that’s excited for her time to shine, and so are we!

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.

We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
