Rocco is… a Bulldog! With the need for rescue aid so great, NELR will occasionally take in another breed that would do well in New England as an ambassador of their breed. We just know someone out here will be thrilled to have the chance to adopt this beautiful Bulldog! His owner surrendered him without giving the staff a name, saying something about a scratch to his 11yo son and threatening to shoot the dog if they didn’t take him. The staff chose the name Rocco for him and had no issues whatsoever welcoming him into the shelter, he even quickly became a staff favorite! He really loves his people and is protective of them, so we think he'd like the tranquility and bonding time of being the only pup after all he's been through. He's joined his foster on errands where he was friendly, accepted compliments like a champ, and is home improvement-store approved! He knows some basics like 'sit' and 'stay,' and walks well on leash. Rocco's a friendly goofy, silly little goober that loves to be spoiled by your affection. He has the typical, charming drool habits of his breed, and breed awareness is always a good idea when preparing for a new fuzzy family member. He’s a fantastic little potato that is really going to make someone’s day… every day!

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.

We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
