Nessa was a young stray down south that needed a FHO (femoral head removal) which gave her little hope of anything other than euthanasia where she was. She was so friendly and sweet that our amazing rescue friends worked their magic to get her a chance at surgery and a happy life, and NELR is so happy to be a part of that journey! She’s had her surgery, which is a fairly common one used to relieve pain and related disuse of the leg, and spent some time recovering and working on building back strength after not being able to put weight on it. Nessa has been doing great and we are so proud of her and excited for her pain-free future! Her foster says you’d never guess what she went through when you see her playing and goofing with her dog friends. Nessa has begun gentle leash walking that can increase with time, and she’s been adding inclines/declines and stairs to her routine. She also does some simple range-of-motion stretches daily, which is another great way to bond with your new family member. She loves humans and is cuddly, playful, smart, and affectionate! She gets along well with other dogs and kids, is used to leash-walking, and is potty & crate trained. Nessa loves to sniff around the yard, play with her friends, and hang out in sunny spots, so a fenced yard would be so nice for her! She’s been enjoying home life and has been a lovely houseguest. She’s a happy pup that “smiles” and loves people, and can’t wait to get life started and enjoy every moment going forward!

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.

We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
