Welcome! |
|
Welcome to New England Lab Rescue’s website. Thank you for your interest in our organization and our dogs. In 2009, the Humane Society of the United States estimated that 6-8 million dogs and cats enter approximately 3,500 shelters around the country. About half of those animals never leave the shelter because they are euthanized. Most people think that shelters only offer “mutts” or undesirable dogs. In fact, HSUS estimates that 25% of shelter dogs are purebred. The Labrador Retriever is the most popular breed of dog in the United States. As a result, the number of Labs in shelters has reached a shocking number. NELR rescues Labs in shelters and helps them find their fur-ever families for another chance at happiness and love. We have joined the effort to curb pet overpopulation by urging pet owners to spay and neuter their animals. We require that our dogs are spayed or neutered as part of the adoption process.
